Red Bay Coffee is inspired by the many talented people we are surrounded by in Oakland. Our Great Grinds Campaign proudly features people we admire for their commitment and grind to their craft.
Cynthia was born in Wilmington, NC in 1950 - growing up through Jim Crow and desegregation. She went to high school in Upstate New York and lived briefly n Venezuela while learning industrial food production in a cheesecake factory.
Her career includes a restaurant/catering in the 9 in San Francisco, while producing music shows, writing/acting in community theatre and college productions in NYC and SF, purveying vintage clothing for resale at flea markets from Hanoi to Paris, to giving KILLER house parties from dusk to dawn. And let’s not forget her brief stint as a Sunday school teacher at Judson Church in NYC. Eclectic doesn’t begin to cover it!
She graduated from City College, CUNY, magna cum laude, majoring in English, Creative Writing, and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Golden Key International Honor Society.
Her hobbies include traveling, sewing, and learning new languages.
While she is officially retired, she is a writer and entrepreneur at heart so stay tuned!
