As Juneteenth approaches, we are excited to unveil our exclusive Juneteenth Limited Release Tin Can. This special edition is more than just a coffee—it's a tribute to freedom, heritage, and unity.
The Significance of Juneteenth
Juneteenth, observed on June 19th, commemorates the day in 1865 when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, with the news that the Civil War had ended and enslaved people were now free—over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This day, a blend of "June" and "nineteenth," symbolizes the end of slavery in the United States and is celebrated with festivities, reflections, and communal gatherings.
Our Juneteenth Limited Release
Our Juneteenth Tin Can is adorned with historic imagery from Galveston's Juneteenth celebrations and proudly showcases the Pan-African flag. This beautifully designed tin is a keepsake honoring a pivotal moment in history.
Inside, you'll find our premium Colombian coffee, sourced from the El Vergel Estate in Huila, Colombia. This region, known for its rich soil and optimal climate, produces coffee with vibrant flavors of nectarine, mango, and chamomile. The farm, managed by the Bayter Family since 1995, has a rich history of agricultural innovation and excellence. Despite challenges, such as a significant drop in avocado prices, the Bayter family pivoted to coffee production, introducing varieties like Caturra and later experimenting with innovative processing methods. Today, El Vergel Estate is a pioneer in specialty coffee, known for its meticulous fermentation processes and commitment to quality.
