Coffee Story
In 2019, seven entrepreneurial women in Burundi's Ngozi region achieved a milestone with their first exceptional coffee harvest, producing five micro-lots under the name Turihamwe, meaning “together” in Kirundi. As members of JNP Coffee’s International Women’s Coffee Alliance (IWCA) Premium Program, these women used their pooled savings to establish their own wet mill, Gitemezi, marking a new chapter in their journey toward economic empowerment.
With support from JNP Coffee and Burundi Friends International, the women have participated in financial literacy programs and reinvested their premiums to expand production, aiming to grow their output to over 1,200 bags annually. Turihamwe coffee, crafted from Bourbon variety beans, offers the sweet, citrusy flavors that specialty coffee lovers adore, while embodying the transformative power of collaboration and quality. Every cup supports these women in their mission to overcome poverty through high-quality coffee.

Motherland was the first bag of beans I bought from Red Bay and after trying all of the blends it’s still my favorite! The perfect beans to drink black as a pour over. The flavor notes are distinct, but not overpowering. This is my go to for my subscription.
Best tasting coffee ever! Big on flavour, wonderfully layered aroma. We've just received our 5th order of these freshly roasted coffee beans from Red Bay. Excited to ease in Sunday morning with Motherland. Yaay 😍
No creamer needed
When I first opened the package and smelled the coffee beans, I was a little skeptical. But once I brewed it in the espresso machine for either a shot or americano, wow it is great! My husband and I love this coffee and he really doesn't even drink coffee. We usually have this with milk for a steamed latte. Sometimes I add unsweetened cocoa powder to it, and it's amazing. It's such an interesting flavor and exactly what I was hoping for when searching for a coffee that is not typically presented in most supermarkets. I'm so happy to love it because I normally wouldn't buy coffee this expensive, but this one was worth it.
Great for Espresso, I switch back between this and Slow Burn.
