Red Bay Coffee International Headquarters

Former bank repurposed for state-of-the-art coffee lab and design studio

OAKLAND, California (August 21, 2019) — Today, Red Bay Coffee Roasters, the black-owned, sustainable specialty coffee company founded by Keba Konte expands into a new International Headquarters. Located at 3136 International Blvd in Oakland’s historic Fruitvale District, this former bank will house a growing team and offer a diverse set of coffee experiences.

Continuing the tradition of hand-crafted public art in Fruitvale, Red Bay Coffee has partnered with local artist Angel Chavez, who has painted several community murals throughout Oakland. From sunrise to sunset on Wednesday August 21, he will be painting “Beautiful Coffee To The People” on the Fruitvale Avenue side of the former bank. Red Bay Coffee welcomes the community to come on down and experience the painting in person.

“It’s exciting to expand again in our own neighborhood and to partner with more mission-driven companies and sustainable farmers around the world.” said Founder and CEO Keba Konte.

In 2014, Red Bay Coffee was founded in Konte’s Fruitvale home, also known as the Coffee Dojo. Over the last five years, Red Bay Coffee has opened a Public Roastery on East 10th Street along with several brick-and-mortar retail locations throughout California. This month the company is expanding into its International Headquarters, a three-story, 11,000 square foot building constructed in 1930.

The new headquarters will have a state-of-the-art coffee Cupping Lab, and a Design Studio focused on designing, creating and sharing Red Bay Coffee’s special blend of magic. The headquarters will also feature an industrial style bank vault that will be repurposed into a place for community story exchange.
